System 02 · Conversion Infrastructure
Conversion Infrastructure, Not a Redesign
A website is not a brochure and it is not a portfolio piece. It is the machine that converts attention into revenue — and when it underperforms, the cost isn't aesthetic. It's every visitor you already paid to attract, leaving without buying.
Stage 02 — the site. Where attention either becomes an order or doesn't.
Why It Matters
You are already paying for the traffic that doesn't convert.
Every visitor arriving at your site cost something — an ad, a post, a search ranking, a referral, years of reputation. That cost is sunk the moment they land. What happens in the next thirty seconds decides whether it was an investment or an expense.
This is why conversion work compounds in a way traffic spend never does. Improving the machine doesn't just win you more customers from the same traffic; it lowers what every future customer costs to acquire, across every channel, permanently. Traffic spend stops working the day you stop paying. Structure keeps working.
It's also why we refuse to scale acquisition into a site that leaks. More traffic through a broken structure doesn't reveal the problem — it just makes the same problem cost more per month, which is how brands end up convinced that marketing doesn't work for them.
What It Affects
This system doesn't stay in its lane.
-
What every customer costs
Conversion rate is the denominator under all your acquisition math. Improve it and every channel gets cheaper at once — including the ones you have not launched yet.
-
Which channels are viable
Channels that look unaffordable are often just channels a leaky site can't support. Fix the structure and options reopen.
-
What you can learn
An uninstrumented site can't tell you why people leave. Building the tracking foundation is what makes every later decision evidence rather than opinion.
What You Get
Built, delivered, and yours.
We build the machine and instrument it. What it produces depends on your offer and market — which is exactly why the diagnosis comes first.
- High-conversion website and landing page builds, from scratch
- Shopify and e-commerce conversion rate optimization
- Product page structure built for a considered purchase
- Funnel architecture — a designed path per offer, not one weak page for all of them
- Analytics and tracking foundations, so performance is observable
How We Work
The sequence, not the shortcut.
The order matters more than any single tactic. Here's the shape of the work — the specifics are built around your business, in the engagement.
- 01
Find the drop-off
Before touching design, we establish where in the current path people actually stop — and whether the problem is the page, the offer, or the traffic arriving at it.
- 02
Design the path
Each revenue line gets its own conversion path, structured around the decision a real buyer is making rather than around a template.
- 03
Build and instrument
We build it properly and wire the measurement in at the same time, so the first version is already producing evidence.
- 04
Test what matters
Then we change things in an order that lets us attribute the result — testing the assumptions worth the most, not whichever button is easiest to recolor.
Standalone design and build projects run through ELM Tree Web Design, ELMTM's dedicated design arm. Inside a full engagement, conversion infrastructure is built as part of the engine rather than as a separate project.
FAQ
Straight answers on conversion infrastructure.
Is this a redesign?
Sometimes, but that's a side effect rather than the goal. A redesign changes how a site looks; conversion infrastructure changes what it does. Occasionally the right answer is that your site looks fine and the problem is the offer it's presenting or the path it routes people through — in which case redesigning it would have been an expensive way to change nothing.
Do we have to rebuild everything?
No, and we'd rather not by default. If the foundation is sound, we fix the structure that's leaking and leave the rest. Full rebuilds happen when the existing build actively prevents conversion work — no tracking, no flexibility, or a platform fighting every change.
How is this different from hiring a web designer?
A designer is accountable for the site. We're accountable for what the site produces. That means the work starts before the first wireframe — in the offer and the customer journey — and continues after launch, because a conversion machine that's never tested again is just a nicer brochure.
Can you work with our existing platform?
Usually. Shopify and standard e-commerce stacks are common ground for us. If your platform is the constraint, we'll say so plainly and show you what it's costing rather than quietly working around it.
